Program details
This program provides in-person instruction only.
Provides a comprehensive program to prepare for entry-level employment in a medical-clerical setting such as medical office or other health care facility. Program covers icd-9-cm, risk management and other HCPCS/CPT coding and its principles. Students learn to perform computerized billing, claim search and authorizing procedures. Addresses HIPAA (privacy act) requirements. A 10 week advanced session concentrates on the practical aspects of chart review and abstracting of inpatient charges. Students receive increased lab practice and med iSOFT computer application. Students are prepared for coder certification following AHIMA and AAPC guidelines. Also addresses HIPAA requirements. Program includes basic medical terminology/anatomy, medical language, definitions and pronunciation, keyboarding and word processing (Microsoft word) are covered. Employability skills are addresses. Certificate will be awarded upon successful course completion.
