Program details
The 40 Hour Guard Card course prepares students for a career in the security field under the guidelines outlined in the Business and Professions Code 7853.5 At the conclusion of the course, the students will receive a state recognized license. This 40 Hour program requires 1-2 weeks of training and prepares students for proven, effective procedures and legal conditions in the field of private patrol/guard services. The course will consist of each of the four (4) hour state mandatory courses as well as a mixture of four (4) hour state elective courses to make a total of 40 clock hours. State Mandatory Courses: Powers to Arrest, Weapons of Mass Destruction, Public Relations, Observations & Documentation, Liability, Legal Aspects, Communication, and Its Significance. State Elective Courses: Post Orders & Assignments, Evacuation Procedures, Officer Safety, Employee Policies, Orientation, chemical Agents, Courtroom Demeanor, Handling Difficult People, Crowd Control, Advanced Arrest, Search and Seizure, Preserving the Incident Scene, Trespass, Evacuation Procedures, Workplace Violence.Successful completion of the course and passed Federal Live Scan background check will result in a BSIS Guard Card Issued that allows students to provide security services under a Private Patrol Operator.
