This program provides in-person instruction only.
The Apprenticeship Program is a state-approved training model regulated by the California Division of Apprenticeship Standards (DAS) in partnership with the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology (Board). It allows individuals, referred to as apprentices, to receive paid, hands-on training in a licensed establishment under the daily supervision of a Board-licensed trainer, while concurrently completing Related Supplemental Instruction (RSI) through a Local Education Agency (LEA).Apprentices work toward licensure as a cosmetologist, barber, or electrologist by completing the full number of training hours required by the Boardsplit between On-the-Job Training (OJT) and RSI courseworkin accordance with a DAS-approved apprenticeship agreement. Apprenticeship training must take place at a Board-licensed establishment, with an approved trainer, and under conditions that comply with all applicable laws and regulations set forth in the California Business and Professions Code, Title 16 of the California Code of Regulations (CCR), and Title 8 of the CCR governing apprenticeship programs.
