This program provides in-person instruction only.

This competency-based course provides training for the paraprofessional seeking employment as an early childhood education assistant in nursery schools, child care centers and child development programs, and as a k-2 teachers aide; provides state of California required classroom instruction and training in child growth and development, child care and guidance, and the implementation of a developmentally appropriate curriculum. The student must complete a minimum of 150 hours of guided observations and field-work experience with groups of young children and a minimum of 150 hours of classroom instruction. This course is an alternative qualification to six (6) post-secondary semester units required for the child development assistant permit (title 5) and as a teacher aide (title 22).
